Demystifying Sensorless Pump Technology

This presentation takes the mystery out of sensorless variable-speed pumping technology, explaining how pumps can determine the flow and head they are delivering and adjust their speed to maintain a desired control curve without the use of remotely mounted sensors. The presentation compares sensorless technology with conventional sensor-based variable-speed pumping strategies, exploring how each approach works, their diffeences, and where each may be best suited for HVAC applications. A live demonstration with graphical displays of pump and system curves illustrates the technology in action and helps bring the concepts to life.

Presentation Bio:

Warren Jurgens is the General Manager for JM O’Connor, a manufacturers’ rep firm located in Overland Park, KS. He holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Warren has 37 years of experience in the HVAC industry working in sales engineering. He has a broad knowledge of systems and equipment with an emphasis on pumps, hydronics, boilers, cooling towers, and heat transfer. Warren teaches JMO training classes on a wide range of wet side HVAC equipment and has been invited to speak at professional groups including ASHRAE, APSE, IAPMO and AEE on industry specific topics.
